Smoking man, large Wooden-toy seller, female, 5.5x9.4 inches
Manufacturing of wooden toys has a nearly 300 years old tradition in the German village Seiffen. Particularly on Christmas markets the numerous wooden articles were offered: Christmas pyramids, smokers, candle arches and candle holders. The production requires outstanding woodworking skills. In former times the craftsmen went by foot all the long way from the German Erzgebirge to Dresden in order to sell their goods. The craftswoman was manufactured highly detailed from 70 individual parts. It carries a heavy basket on the back which is decorated with many small wooden toy figures. In its arms it holds a candle arch and a Santa Claus. The figure starts to smoke when putting inside an incense candle. The wood used for this smoker is certified by PEFC.
